DESCRIPTION

Silverton is a Village (pop. 230) on the east shore of Slocan Lake in the Central Kootenay Regional District of British Columbia.

The first phase of this project involved the design, tendering, and construction of upgrades to the Village’s outdated water mains, which achieved the goal of increasing pressure and flows to meet acceptable servicing requirements.

The second phase involved a study to evaluate the current state of this small municipality’s water supply and distribution system, assess its functional needs, identify key deficiencies, develop upgrade priorities, and create a strategic capital plan for the Village to pursue future water system infrastructure investment. Critical factors for the study were source pumping, fire flows, demand criteria, creating a system model, and examining options to increase storage.
