New Denver is located in the Slocan Valley north of Nelson, British Columbia. It is a progressive rural village, home to 600 citizens in an active community situated on the beautiful Slocan Lake, within the Selkirk Mountain Range.
WSA Engineering Ltd. was approached to provide Structural Engineering and to appropriately design the 1250sq.ft two story residence to maintain interior thermal comfort from the sun’s daily cycles while reducing the requirement for active heating and cooling systems. Known as passive solar building design, WSA Eningeering Ltd. used green design techniques to drastically improve the energy efficiency while minimizing overhead costs. Strategic placement and size of operable windows, heated concrete floors, on demand hot water and high R-Value insulation are all part of green building design that WSA utilized to maintain
sustainable living. Exposed timbers provide
character, aesthetics and strength.
All of this translates into comfort and harmony.
