he Castlegar Veterinary Hospital is located on 4340 Minto Road, Castlegar BC and serves the West Kootenay’s and surrounding areas. The Castlegar Veterinary Hospital required an addition to the approximately 1600sq.ft existing hospital to keep up with the expanding service. Constraints would have to be placed on the dimensions and footprint of the addition due to limited build able area remaining on site for construction.
WSA was engaged as the consulting Structural Engineer for this 1500sq.ft addition to the existing single story Castlegar Veterinary Hospital. The structure utilizes glulam post and beams which provide an architecturally pleasing look. The existing building was constructed of masonry block. New door and window headers were designed and detailed using steel HSS sections. WSA provided foundation drawings for the new addition, ensuring the structural integrity of the existing foundation.
WSA Engineering Ltd. completed necessary applications and coordinating communications with the governing authorities for required permits, as with all of our structural engineering projects. WSA has extensive experience with coordinating building designers, contractors and clients to provide structural design services to existing buildings.
