DESCRIPTION
Grandview Heights is a multi-phase housing and residential care facility development in Castlegar, British Columbia. This unique project was being developed by a cooperative group to provide fee-simple single family building lots, strata multi-family housing, and a residential seniors’ care facility.
Grandview Heights Phase I involved the design, tendering, and construction of roads, servicing, 59 fee-simple single-family building lots, and 52 single- and multi-family strata housing units. This project required over 1.8 km of new water service main and a booster pumping station connected to the City of Castlegar’s municipal water distribution system.
The design challenges of the Grandview Heights project included an expansion of the City of Castlegar’s water distribution system that will accommodate all future development of Grandview Heights and other potential large subdivision developments adjacent to the project site.
WSA Engineering’s services as project engineer for Grandview Heights included design, tendering, contract administration, construction oversight, and materials testing. Grandview Heights Phase I was successfully completed on schedule in the Fall of 2008.
