The Mountain Project-Resources shelters are located in Rossland BC Canada at the base of Red Mountain. TMP-R is the world’s first ski-in, ski-out community to plan its future on values that serve core users and celebrate authentic mountain culture. Energy efficiency, contemporary aesthetics, intelligent material specifications, and green building techniques it all adds up to a new way to live in a resort.
WSA was engaged as the consulting Structural Engineer for this three story 3000sq.ft condo/apartment development. The buildings utilize exposed rough sawn glulam knee braces to support the floors and shed style roof system. Balloon framing techniques were used by the contractor and specific restraints were detailed to provide rigidity to the wall system. The TMP-R project required close cooperation with the designer, Zimtor Architects of Montana; as well as the contractor, K2 Contracting from Rossland BC to satisfy the client’s needs while changing exposed structural components of the building.
As with all of our structural engineering projects, WSA Engineering Ltd. completed applications and coordinating communications with the governing authorities for required permits. WSA has extensive experience with coordinating architects, designers and contractors to provide structural inspections and design changes to ensure a timely solution with minimal constraints.
